Revolutionise the effectiveness and power of your kicking with the Powerkick System.
Peter Consterdine recounts: When I started working on the doors in the early ‘70’s, I realised that traditional karate techniques worked poorly without major alterations. I also realised that the impact one could achieve with the ‘handed down for years’ techniques (that people who practice martial arts never seem to question), was woefully inadequate, given the many compromises which the situation produced. This might be stance, space, proximity to opponent, multiple opponents, alcohol, fear, etc.
I found the answer to the impact problem in the Shukokai Karate system, as developed by Siguru Kimura Sensei. Probably the first Japanese ever to question the perceived wisdom of the past. His revolutionary body dynamics quadrupled the delivery of impact into not only punching and striking, but also kicking.
Over many years, Peter has developed these principles, adding much of the Chinese internal systems to ensure that relaxation within the technique remained. The result has been that only ‘one shot’, either strike or kick is all that is needed to finish a street confrontation. Even at close range, the Powerkick system allows massive impact to be effortlessly channelled through kicks, knees and sweeps. In the street, kicking is one of the most dangerous techniques to perform dangerous to the kicker that is.
Most martial artists falsely believe that kicking skills will be the answer to street confrontations, which sadly, couldn’t be further from the truth. Kicking can have a role in defence, but you must ensure you only learn from people who have been there and not someone who has ‘invented’, from the relative safety of their own Dojo and imagination, what will happen in real life. This second video in the ‘Power’ series will show you how to safely use kicks as a legitimate weapon in the street should the threat dictate this level of force response.
