This video is the first in a series of hard-hitting self defence videos. The myth of traditional martial arts working in the street is exposed once and for all. This dynamic video, which teaches many workable street techniques, is the first in a series of instructional videos by two of Britain's leading exponents of Self Protection – Peter Consterdine and Geoff Thompson. This series was written and produced by Peter Consterdine.

In street confrontations there are no bells, flags, whistles or referees. There is just you, your opponent or opponents, together with fear and a ‘chemical cocktail'. In these circumstances traditional martial arts in all their complexity may not be the perfect answer.

The title of the series is taken from the book of the same name by Geoff Thompson, who has gone on to write many books on the subject of self protection and the practical application of martial arts to self defence. Both Geoff and Peter had to make their techniques work over many years of door work and each portrays the real truth about close quarter combat. Years of training in not only Karate, but boxing, wrestling, Wing Chun and other systems, all come together in the making of this series.
